Bustani Hayile is a 3 years old female. She was born in Mena wereda, south western of Ethiopia. 3 years old female patient admitted 3 day back with diagnose of ALL (HR) on delayed intensification + SAM (NE) + Oral thrush + AGE with DHN. She has also had night sweeting of the same duration, frequent vomiting 3-4 times/day, fast breathing, cough, loss of appetite, weight loss and bleeding from nose of 02 weeks. Her Mather took her to Mana health center and they gave her some medication. Finally they told her she needs farther investigation and for better care to go to Jimma University specialized Hospital.
Bultu had not had enough money to treat Bustani at Jimma. But she was admitted 22/02/2014E.C at Jimma University specialized Hospital at NRU ward. After they did investigation, then sent her to the pediatric oncology ward with diagnosis of ALL, and also decide that she needs to take chemotherapy.
Bustani problem after taking chemotherapy disappeared; they told her she has acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), now Bustani is 4 years old female child with the diagnosis of ALL. Who completed cycle II chemotherapy 1 month back, aid on post chemo follow-up, currently came with appointment, otherwise no other complaint, she is stable, doing well and very active. Bultu is very strong mother, hopeful for her child. She is thankful for all the help he got from TAPCCO/ASLAN and their supporters.
She said, “My life was turned upside down with the experience, I did not have much hope and I agreed for the treatment reluctantly, the help I got from the TAPCCO/ASLAN staff made me believe that my child will get well. Having the place to stay, support in medicine, and the encouragement and hearing other parent’s story had impact.”
