Tesfa Addis Parents Childhood Cancer Organization (TAPCCO) is a Non-profit Organization (NPO) established by parents of children with cancer and individuals interested in helping children with cancer and their families in December 5, 2012 under Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 and re-registered under proclamation 1113/2019 in May 16, 2019 Ethiopian Resident Charity License No. 2920.

What We Do

Accommodation

TAPCCO gives accommodation services in five locations of its project. In Addis Ababa the accommodation service is located in Piassa area, near to Nazareth school with the capacity of 100 people. In Jimma it is located back of honey land hotel with the capacity of 40 people in a day. In Gondar city the accommodation is located in next to shenkora hotel with the capacity of 20 people in a day. In Mekelle it is found in front of Ayder hospital. Hawass’s accommodation place is located around Hawassa university hospital. The accommodation services have sleeping quarters, food, hygiene service, transport service and play rooms and handcraft trainings for parents. It is a home away from home for the children and parents.

Medication

Various medicines are provided for patients that cannot afford to pay for the service free of charge at the public hospitals. When some medicines are not available in the hospital pharmacy patients are asked to buy from private pharmacy. At such times TAPCCO buys medicine for those that can’t afford it with the support of Ethiopian Insurance Company for Addis Ababa program and for Jimma, Gonder and Mekelle program with the support of the ASLAN project and Hawassa from other donors.

Supplementary Nutrition Support

TAPCCO gives nutrition support for all patients that come to the accommodation as well as patients at the cancer treatment center located in 5gna area.
At TAPCCO homes in Addis, Jimma, Gondar Meklle and Hawassa gives balanced meal five times a day for the children and three times a day for the parents. The diet consisted of milk, eggs, injera, bread, meat, beans, rice, pasta, vegetables, and fruits. The food is freshly prepared at the center based on daily menu.
